Salt Spring Island's population of over 10,000 is very well served with health care facilities and professionals.
	Lady Minto Hospital (picture at left) features 50 beds, of which about 50% is extended care. It has a small operating room, full lab facilities & new x-ray, ultrasound facilities, emergency room, and maternity rooms. Salt Spring Island has approximately a dozen General Practitioners, as well as specialists.

Other specialized areas include orthopedics, midwifery, ophthalmology, optometry, opticians, rehabilitation therapy, physiotherapy, RMT, dentistry, denturists, podiatry, psychiatry, psychotherapy, and psychology. There are also mammography clinics offered.

Salt Spring Island is also part of AIRVAC, BC ambulance, and Air Ambulance systems.

Direct contact exists with all major BC Hospitals, for reference. Salt Spring Island is part of Victoria's Capital Health Region (CHR).

Alternative Medicine services are flourishing on the island, and include practitioners in Acupuncture, Acupressure, Chiropractic, Naturopathy, and a plethora of other body works specialists in the areas of Reiki, Qi Gong, massage therapy, aromatherapy, Shiatsu, yoga, therapeutic touch, homeopathy, Feldenkrais movement, reflexology, plus many more.

Greenwoods is an intermediate care facility with 50 beds (picture at right). It also provides respite care, day care and a bathing program.
