Salt Spring Island has become
famous for the arts, crafts and farmers market: every Saturday in
downtown Ganges. Everything found there is made locally and sold by
the artisans themselves. Rain or shine, from approximately April to
October, you can find potters, jewelers, fiber artists, woodworkers,
musicians, and other creative folk selling their wares in the
beautiful setting of Centennial Park, in the middle of downtown
Ganges. There is also frequently live music, crafts, local food
stands, children activities, and just general good-time fun!
Since its origins as a local Gulf Island farmer's market, this
market has grown to unbelievable proportions. It is filled with the
colors and flavours of more than one hundred artisans of all types
and ages. Many are the same who contribute towards Salt Spring's
international reputation for being home to the greatest collection
of artists in Canada. |
